In 1975, Steve Cie, a Pioneer in The Mobile DJ Industry, was New Jersey's First Mobile Dee Jay Entertainer to incorporate a Mobile Color Lighting System with a High Quality Professional Sound System.
Steve hosted The Steve Cie Show (STEVE CIE ON THE BIG "V") on WVRM FM 89.3 ( THE BIG "V") Radio, receiving critical acclaim in the New York City Metro Market for drive time radio.
The Steve Cie Show has entertained thousands of guests at weddings, engagement parties, Bat/Bar Mitzvah's, birhday's, anniversaries for over thirty years in the New York - New Jersey - Pennsylvania area. Steve has headlined at such notable nightspots as The Club Miami, The Nelson Terrace, The Riviera Chateau, The Garden Manor, The Buttonwood Manor,Ectasies, Buck Smith's House of Brides, and Stubby's Lounge, Gibbs Hall, The Club Bene, to name a few!
He has worked with many notable groups and personalities, including Tiny Tim, Uncle Floyd Vivino, Baby Blue, Bobbie Byrnes, Kenny Vance & The Planotones ,The Duprees, Rick Alviti, Larry Chance & The Earls, and The Cameos!
Steve has entertained regularly at THE COLONIAL WOODS FAMILY CAMPING RESORT in Upper Black Eddy, Pa. for the past 22 years!
How it all began..........
steve Cie began his career in 1968 as a part time announcer at the E.J. Korvettes Store on Staten Island, NY. An avid amateur radio enthusiast, Steve started a weekly radio broadcast, on the Amateur Radio Band, spotlighting pop music and comedy. In 1975, he was asked by two friends, Ray Hogrefe & Maryann Perragallo to provide music for a New Jersey based radio club’s New Year’s Eve Party. The party was held at the VFW Hall on Third & Waverly Streets in Keyport, NJ. It was billed as “Having an affair this New Year’s Eve with Steve Cie”.™ With a borrowed reel to reel tape recorder, and a pile of borrowed records, Steve recorded 5 hours of oldies and popular music, and proceeded to do the job. Steve took the job very seriously, and built a small, yet impressive, portable light show for the dance floor. The dance party was a tremendous success and Steve was asked to do several more parties from members of the audience. His very first business cards has a by line---“Having an Affair?….make sure its with Steve Cie!”.™ These small parties would eventually lead Steve to be asked to do a daily 15 minute broadcast on Hazlet NJ based WVRM FM 89.3 radio, "THE BIG V".
Steve produced and performed the 15-minute daily show known as Break 89, an informational program about citizens band radio craze in the Bayshore area of Central New Jersey. The station management was so impressed with Steve that they offered him the drive time morning radio slot, a three-hour daily country music format radio show.
On Monday morning, June 12, 1978, The Steve Cie Show ™ was born. It was originally billed as "STEVE CIE ON THE BIG V ".™ Steve’s very first move was to scratch a country record on the air, and replace it with Cheap Trick’s I Want You To Want Me, at that time a Top 40 Hit. The telephones at the station lit up like Christmas trees! The show was a resounding success! The Steve Cie Show would continue to be a drive time Top 40 format daily radio program for the next 4 years. Continuing to perform live shows both on the air and off the air, Steve Cie became a well-recognized Mobile Deejay Entertainer. The lynchpin of the act would be his ever-growing Disco Light Show!
Today, 32 years after his first deejay appearance in Keyport NJ, The Steve Cie Show is the Tri-State Area’s Premier Deejay Entertainment, providing Affordable Lights and Sound in for Weddings, Birthday’, Mitzvahs, Retirement, Resorts, Holiday, and of course, New Year’s Eve Parties!
The Steve Cie Show has performed at more than 500 Wedding Receptions, hundreds of Birthday Parties, Retirement, Holiday, and Fund Raising events held in just about every catering, fire house, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Moose, and Mason’s Hall in New Jersey.
From vinyl records, to digital tape, to compact discs, and now, to digital computer sound, The Steve Cie Show has progressed with the technology, providing state-of-the-art sound and lighting, delighting audiences throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
